Construction:
Made of Incense Cedar. Frame
joints glued and doweled on 1" centers. 1 1/8"
x 2" meeting stiles with optional rabbeted or plain
joints. Hanging stiles are within a range of
1 1/8" x 2" to 2 1/2". Rails are 7/8"
thick (1/8" reveal) with top rails ranging from 2"
to 5 5/8", bottom rails ranging from 2" to 6
5/8", and divider rails in optional widths of 2",
3", 4", 5" or 6". Louvers are 3/8"
thick in optional widths of 1 7/8", 2 1/2" and
3 1/2", and 1/2" thick for optional width of
4 1/2". They are operated by a 1/2" x 5/8"
or 1/2" x 1/2" tilt rod attached by 1/4"
crown cemented staples. Louver width is 1/6" less
than rail size with a tolerance of plus or minus 1/32"
and will not be considered defective if falling within
this size range, however, all louvers within a shutter
will not vary in width by more than 1/32". Warpage
on any component part, vertical or horizontal shall not
exceed 1/32" per foot and will not be considered
a defect if within this tolerance.
Finishing:
The finishing process for painted
shutters consists of the following steps: (1) sand the
unfinished wood (2) inspect and repair or replace any
defective part (3) seal (4) spray prime coat (5) hand
sand (6) inspect (7) spray two top coats (8) inspect.
Stained shutters follow a similar process - (1) sand the
unfinished wood (2) inspect and repair or replace any
defective part (3) stain and wipe (4) inspect (5) spray
sealer coat (6) hand sand (7) inspect (8) spray two clear
top coats (9) inspect. Minor imperfections not readily
apparent at a distance of four feet under ordinary light
will not be accepted as defects.
Limitations:
It is recommended that shutters
above 72" in height be ordered with a divider rail
and that individual panel width does not exceed 36".
In the case of vertical louvers, the maximum recommended
height without divider rails is 42". We may exceed
these recommended limitations at your request, but cannot
accept responsibility for problems that might result.
